The of strong willed women of substance, who have immensely contributed to the development of our country Kenya, locally and nationally with others making strides at the international level in the global arena. The pioneer alumnae in particular made history in various public and private endeavors that opened way for majority of the other girls to follow their amiable achievements. For this, the Mugoiri alumnae in Kenya and all over the world has consistently been proud of a respected and recognised institution partly because of its alumnae accomplishments.
The Mugoiri Old Girls Association is the alumni community consisting of alma mater from OLC Mugoiri Girls High School, a national school in Muranga, Kenya which was established in 1938.
The formation of the association began in the early 1980’s with a Launch done in 1986. The application to register the Association with the Registrar of Societies was done in 1993 and the formal Registration was considered in 1994 with a total of 62 members. The Mugoiri Old Girls Association objectives aimed to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, to give moral and material support to members, to participate in the development projects of the school, to seek and provide bursaries to needy students and to offer advisory and counseling services to the students all geared towards a platform for social, professional, career, community service and entrepreneurial development for its members, students and the school.
However, the association experienced dormancy for a period of time after the year 2000 and efforts to revive it started in the year 2017 through various efforts culminating in a meeting at the School on the 9th December 2017 where a steering committee was formed and the board of management (BOM) formally endorsement the process. The Association was fully regularised and revived in May 2018 and is currently executing its mandate as well as undertaking its regular activities.
The Association’s first formal activity following its revival was participating in the school’s 80th Anniversary held on the 8th of August 2018. The members were able to fundraise and purchase 8 cookers for the Home Science lab. Each cooker represented each decade since the school was established. Since then, the alumni have contributed further to the equipping of the Home Science lab through purchase of additional equipment and tools.
In October 2019, the association held it’s 1st Annual Alumni Charity Dinner which had an attendance of over 200 alumni and raised 1.2million as inaugural kitty for the bursary fund to benefit needy students at the school.
To be an interconnected alumnae network that is inspired, motivated and engaged to create positive change in our alma mater
